SUMMARY:Implementation Research Scientific Conference
DESCRIPTION:The Implementation Research Scientific Conference in Bilbao comes at a crucial juncture in which it is essential to think about how Implementation Science and practice may work together in order to facilitate the translation of evidence-based interventions into routine clinical practice aiming to increase their reach\, adoption\, implementation and maintenance.  \n\nJADECARE has been accepted as a presenter to this conference on “The Implementation strategy for the transfer and adoption of successfully proven good practices on digitally enabled integrated person-centred care to heterogeneous contexts”: In the framework of speeding up the adoption of integrated person-centred care solutions in Europe by improving their capacity to redesign and improve their healthcare systems\, the EU funded “Joint Action on digitally enabled integrated person-centred care” intends to support the transformation of health systems by addressing the transfer and adoption of four “original Good Practices” (oGPs) to 21 settings of “Next Adopters” (NAs) from 14 European countries holding different levels of maturity of integrated care. A three-step implementation strategy has been developed for enabling the transfer of experiences and knowledge: \n\nPre-implementation (planning and preparation): the NAs analyzed their contexts with the SWOT analysis and identified more than 150 local needs aligned with oGPs‘ key elements (study visits organized). As a consequence\, 64 interventions were defined targeting more than 4 million people.\nImplementation (roll-out and operation): the NAs deployed their action plans by means of two PDSA Cycles monitored by more than 350 KPIs. In ten structured thematic workshops they exchanged their experience about the transfer process.\nPost-implementation (impact assessment and learning): the NAs analyzed the implementation process through the CFIR and reported the whole experience using SQUIRE 2.0 guidelines. Moreover\, the implementation strategy is assessed by NAs (end users) to evaluate its impact and usability.\n\nJADECARE impacts on European health systems by implementing innovative digital integrated care solutions and helping to change the model of care provision. It sets the base to implement integrated care at large scale by delivering know how to transfer innovative and tailored practices and generating evidence that aspires to produce benefits beyond the project. \nImplementation Research and Practice:The biggest problem that undermines the quality of our health services is not the lack of research\, but rather the lack of real implementation of the knowledge that research generates. The real translation into clinical health practice of effective interventions for health promotion and prevention of chronic diseases remains an unresolved challenge in health systems worldwide. Additionally\, a considerable proportion of the interventions provided to patients in the healthcare context lack solid evidence of the effectiveness. The elimination or reduction of this low-value care can lead to improvements in the quality of care and its results in terms of population health while reducing costs. \n\n\nImplementation Science seeks to address and reduce this translational gap by studying and understanding:        \n\nThe political\, social\, behavioral\, economic and organizational factors that impede the effective dissemination and implementation of clinical\, public health and organizational findings based on evidence.\nThe identification\, development and evaluation of specific strategies that allow the integration into routine clinical practice\, interventions and therapies of proven efficacy that are not being applied in a generalized\, sustainable and continuous way (Implementation) or promote the abandonment or substitution of ineffective or cost-ineffective practices or interventions (De-implementation).

There will be some great plenary sessions\, practical and interactive workshops\, HSR learning and development sessions and the opportunity as always to showcase and discuss your research. \nThe aging population\, with the growing burden of chronic conditions and multimorbidity\, is constantly increasing the demand for more comprehensive\, efficient and smarter personalized care delivery based on innovative solutions. For this reason\, the transformation of health systems in Europe with the design\, development and implementation of innovative digital solutions\, ensuring systems’ sustainability is highly needed. \nIn this framework\, JADECARE\, the EU funded “Joint Action on digitally enabled integrated person-centred care”\, aims to contribute to innovative\, efficient and sustainable health systems providing expertise to assist the European Countries in undertaking health system reforms. It intends to support the transformation of health systems by successfully addressing the transfer and adoption of four “original Good Practices” (oGPs) to 21 other settings of “Next Adopters” (NAs). \nJADECARE involves partners from 16 European countries holding different levels of penetration\, adoption and maturity of integrated care\, providing a complete scenario of different idiosyncrasies. The project started on October 1st\, 2020 and ends on September 30th\, 2023. \nThe challenge of this JA is to transfer innovations that have proven to be successful to heterogeneous and complex healthcare environments by adapting the practices to be transferred to the local needs\, situation\, capabilities\, resources\, plans\, strategies and current implementations of the NAs. \nFor this reason\, great focus has been dedicated to the preparation of the local environments. During the pre-implementation phase the 21 NAs identified more than 150 needs and defined 64 interventions and action plans that will target more than 4 million inhabitants. \n  \nHealth Services Research UK (HSR UK) is dedicated to the promotion of health services research in policy and practice. The annual conference is open to everyone interested in health and care services and systems research\, both based in the UK and internationally\, and offers you the opportunity to: \n\nEngage with cutting-edge research. The programme is multi-disciplinary\, with a wide range of research presentations and interactive workshops selected for their importance and impact\, alongside plenaries from key opinion leaders in research\, policy and practice.\nBuild your networks and hear from the agenda-setters. Throughout the three day event and on our interactive conference platform you will have the chance to build your networks across research\, policy and practice communities\, form new collaborations\, and engage with influencers and decision makers.\nPresent your own research to the widest possible audience. Participants attend from universities and research institutes\, research funding agencies\, government\, NHS and social care bodies\, key peer reviewed journals\, industry\, consultancy\, and the third sector.

SUMMARY:Epidemiology for planning the future - Joint Portuguese-Spanish Epidemiology Congress 2023
DESCRIPTION:Epidemiology for planning the future:\nXLI Annual Scientific Meeting of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE) and the XVIII Congress of the Portuguese Association of Epidemiology (APE) \nPreliminary Congress Programme incl. registration information \nJADECARE’s accepted contribution is titled: Evaluation of the Impact of Joint Actions on Decision-Making in Public Health: A Scoping Review (Speaker: José María Castellano García\, Agència de Qualitat i Avaluació Sanitàries de Catalunya – AQuAS) \nBackground/Objectives: Joint Actions (JA) are a financing instrument under the EU Health Programme that involves the participation of various member states to implement priority actions. Evaluating the impact of any initiative funded by public funds is important for accountability\, but it can be challenging. The objectives of this study were to determine the approaches and impact evaluation methodologies used in JAs in public health and to identify the facilitators and obstacles to impact on public policies. \nMethods: A rapid scoping review of the last 20 years was conducted\, identifying a total of 19 articles on JAs in the Pubmed/Medline (n=13) and Google Scholar (n=6) databases. Additionally\, the websites of finished public health JAs (n=40) from 2003 to 2022 were reviewed through the European Commission website. \nResults: The results show that\, in general\, the articles focus more on the project results rather than its impact. The projects that show impact mostly use qualitative evaluation approaches\, such as Delphi techniques\, interviews with expert groups\, consensus exercises\, and opinions\, rather than standardized quantitative data analysis and indicators. The facilitators for their impact on public policy include articles that provide clear and evidence-based results and evaluation approaches that consider the viewpoints of different stakeholders. The obstacles include less attention to the impact rather than project content\, a huge variety of evaluation frameworks\, and many qualitative-based approaches. \nConclusions/Recommendations: Efforts should be made to evaluate the impact of projects through data analysis and evaluation that takes into account all project stakeholders. This would allow for clearer and more precise results and ensure greater impact on public health policies.
