SUMMARY:Medical Informatics Europe MIE 2023 - "Caring is Sharing"
DESCRIPTION:MIE 2023 “Caring is Sharing – Exploiting Value in Data for Health and Innovation”is co-organised by European Federation for Medical Informatics (EFMI) and Swedish Federation for Medical Informatics (SFMI).\n \nThe conference theme 2023 “Caring is Sharing” is closely connected to the rapid development of health data sharing taking place both in Europe and globally. The focus is on the opportunities of health informatics and the research within the EFMI community to enable trustworthy sharing of health data to improve human health. This includes healthcare\, community care\, self-care and public health\, as well as innovation and development of future proof digital health solutions. \nMIE2023 returns after just five years to Gothenburg after MIE2018. One reason to be back so quickly is to harmonise with the presidency of the EU that Sweden has during the first half of 2023. MIE 2023 will also be a co-arrangement with the yearly Swedish conference Vitalis where the participants can select either MIE 2023 or Vitalis sessions (although some Vitalis sessions will be in Swedish). The venue Swedish Exhibition & Congress Centre (including Gothia Tower Hotel) is situated in the centre of Göteborg.

SUMMARY:15th European Public Health Conference “Strengthening health systems: improving population health and being prepared for the unexpected”
DESCRIPTION:The 2022 conference convenes the public health community with a focus on improving population health. JADECARE hosts the workshop: Transfer and adoption of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care good practices in different European contexts: the JADECARE Joint Action\n \nFull Workshop Agenda for: Friday\, 11 November 2022\, 16:40-17:40 – Room:  Beta 3 \nIn the past years\, we have learned from the Covid-19 pandemic that infectious diseases know no boundaries. Although we have seen the successful development of vaccines\, we have also seen with the spread of the Delta and Omicron variants around the globe that these vaccines have not yet been available to everyone. The growing health inequalities around the globe leads to a simple conclusion: Europe must take on a more active role in global health. This includes taking a stand on expansive issues such as planetary health\, climate change\, environmental degradation\, water and food security\, migration\, gender\, and poverty. Europe must use its knowledge and influence to balance out market forces\, expand regulatory oversight and create socially responsible systems for health\, especially when it comes to the distribution of vaccines and essential medicines. \nDigitalization is a key area where recent developments require us to exchange ideas and come up with new approaches. The past decades have seen significant developments in data collection and processing capacity as well as eHealth applications. We need to ensure that the vast amounts of data generated are well protected on the one hand\, but also being available and usable for public health interventions. We want the discussions at the 15th EPH Conference to contribute to resilient health systems\, universal health coverage (UHC)\, a well-trained and highly qualified clinical and public health workforce\, and governance structures that take a stand and shape health systems globally. \n\nJADECARE interactive workshop: Transfer and adoption of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care good practices in different European contexts: the JADECARE Joint Action \n\nWorkshop coordinates: Friday\, 11 November 2022\, 16:40-17:40 – Room:  Beta 3 \nWorkshop host and Chairperson: \nJon Txarramendieta\, Kronikgune Institute for Health services Research\, Basque Country\, Spain. \nPresentations:\nChallenges in transferring GP to heterogeneous contexts: the JADECARE Joint Action\nJon Txarramendieta \nAbstract: In this first presentation of the workshop\, Jon Txarramendieta\, the Project Manager at the Coordination team of JADECARE will present the Joint Action and the challenges in transferring the GP to the heterogeneous context of the Next Adopters. It will give context to the workshop and introduce good practices that are transferred into action.  \nCore Features (CF) of the GP to be transferred during JADECARE and transfer challenges\nJon Txarramendieta\, Josep Roca\, Manfred Zahorka\, Kuno Strand Kudajewski\nAbstract: The representatives of each of the four JADECARE oGPs\, Jon Txarramendieta (Kronikgune\, Basque Country\, Spain)\, Josep Roca (August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute\, Catalonia\, Spain)\, Manfred Zahorka (Optimedis AG\, Germany) and Kuno Strand Kudajewski (Health Innovation Centre\, Southern Denmark)  will describe the main traits of the CF of their practices and the NAs that will transfer and adapt them highlighting the transfer challenges.  \nDevelopment of Local interventions within JADECARE – Key learnings from two NAs\nRoberta Papa\, Zdislav Dolecek\nAbstract: NA representatives Roberta Papa (Regional Health Agency Marche Region\, Italy) and Zdislav Dolecek (University Hospital Olomouc\, Czech Republic)\, will present the Local interventions and action plans they developed during the pre-implementation phase\, pre-final results of their implementation phase and preliminary lessons learned from the implementation.  \nGroup discussion: Challenges and key elements to be addressed when transferring GP\nAll workshop speakers\, moderated by Jon Txarramendieta\n \nPanellists:  \n\nJon Txarramendieta (Kronikgune Institute for Health Services Research\, Spain) \n\nJosep Roca (August Pi i Sunyer Biomedical Research Institute\, Spain)\, \n\nManfred Zahorka (Optimedis AG\, Germany)\, \n\nKuno Strand Kudajewski (Health Innovation Centre of Southern Denmark\, Denmark) \n\nRoberta Papa (Regional Health Agency Marche Region\, Italy)\n\nZdislav Dolecek (University Hospital Olomouc\, Czech Republic) \n\nThis workshop explores the key elements and challenges to be addressed when transferring Good Practices (GP) to heterogeneous health systems with different needs\, aims and scopes. It will also highlight the experience of two NAs: Marche region in Italy and Olomouc in Czech Republic\, and promote the discussion among speakers and attendees to highlight the challenges and key elements enabling the transfer of GPs.

SUMMARY:Taking care of the complex patient: the contribution of JADECARE
DESCRIPTION:Upcoming (free) JADECARE Webinar “Taking care of the complex patient: the contribution of Joint Action on implementation of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care”: The increasing prevalence of chronic diseases and the frequent presence of multimorbid conditions represent a public health priority and a shared challenge present in both the Italian and European contexts: providing efficient\, personalized and integrated care that promotes better quality of services is key to address this challenge. \nTo this end\, the Regional Health Agency\, on behalf of the Region of Tuscany\, participates in the European Joint Action “JADECARE” (Joint Action on implementation of Digitally Enabled integrated person-centered CARE) whose purpose is to contribute to the development of more innovative\, effective and sustainable health care systems by supporting the sharing of some “Good Practices” already in place in other European countries. Therefore\, in accordance with the objectives of the project\, professionals from ARS Tuscany and “Piana di Lucca” District Zone have opted to transfer and implement some components of the Good Practice of the Basque Country in “Piana di Lucca” site. As a result\, a model of taking care of the complex patient that involves the co-presence of a multiprofessional and multidisciplinary team has been outlined and implemented in the “Piana di Lucca” District Zone. \nIn this second event\, which follows the Webinar on presentation of the project that took place in October 2021\, the Regional Health Agency’s objectives are to: \n\nProvide an overview on how the JADECARE project can fit into national and regional health policies\nEmphasise the Tuscany Region’s commitment to supporting European planning\nUpdate health professionals on the status of the project in “Piana di Lucca” District Zone: key point of the implementation\, main results\, achievements\, barriers and challenges\nUpdate health professionals on new “branching activities” in the South-East and Central Local Health Authorities: both Local Health Authorities have shown interest and willingness in transferring into their settings some components of the project developed in the “Piana di Lucca” District Zone.\n\nRegister here

SUMMARY:EHMA 2022 Conference "From people to systems: leadership for a sustainable future"
DESCRIPTION:The European Health Management Association (EHMA) will be hosting its 27th Annual Conference on 15-17 June 2022 for the first time in Brussels\, Belgium. The conference title ‘From people to systems: leadership for a sustainable future’ will explore challenges and solutions for creating sustainable health systems and ways health managers can lead towards them. \nOne of EHMA’s main areas of work has been maintaining a dialogue between researchers\, policymakers\, health managers and professionals\, thereby facilitating evidence-based policy refinement and change. The EHMA 2022 Annual Conference is an unique occasion for health managers\, researchers\, and professionals to have their voices heard\, to connect with decision-makers\, and collectively inform policymaking at the European level. \nThe JADECARE Joint Action plans to contribute with a workshop titled “Challenges in transferring digitally enabled integrated person-centred care good practices to heterogeneous contexts: Which factors need to be addressed for a successful transfer? “ \nOrganisers’ Statement:\n“As our health systems are straining to cope with the COVID 19 pandemic\, nothing is more important than to learn from each other about how we can most effectively respond to the challenges of today and tomorrow. The EHMA conference is a unique place to exchange knowledge\, learn about new innovative ways of managing and organising health care services and advance our understanding of how to lead health systems in times of constant change and profound transformation. Over the years\, the EHMA conference has always been the place to share cutting edge research\, innovation and experiences in health management\, be that in community health\, acute hospital providers or in allied health care services. The EHMA Annual Conference remains the perfect place to get in touch with your European and international colleagues discussing the latest developments in various conference tracks such as Governance and Leadership\, finance and economics\, management and operations as well as policy and health care regulation. We look forward to seeing you there!”\n[Axel Kaehne\, President of the EHMA Board].

SUMMARY:22nd International Conference on Integrated Care
DESCRIPTION:JADECARE will be represented */** at the 22nd International Conference on Integrated Care which will take place in Odeon in Odense\, Denmark\, from 23 – 25 May 2022.  The conference is a partnership with Healthcare Denmark in cooperation with Odense University Hospital\, University of Southern Denmark (SDU)\, Municipality of Odense\, Campus Odense and Destination FYN. Denmark is among international frontrunners when it comes to integrated healthcare services. \n\nA coherent and integrated healthcare system is key to solving the demographic challenges and reduce patient length of stay at hospitals. A high degree of coherence means that Denmark can address newly diagnosed cancers with clinical pathways\, which connect hospitals\, clinics\, GPs and the patients. This has already led to remarkable progress in Danish cancer survival.\nA coherent and integrated healthcare system with a high degree of digitalization enables real-time sharing of electronic data and makes it possible to initiate early diagnostics and address chronic diseases in new ways\, where the patients are empowered and involved in handling their own disease.\nElectronic communication and sharing of information enable municipalities\, home care staff and the hospital to support older people to stay in their own homes as long as possible. As a result\, the patients experience fewer admissions and shorter length of stays at hospital\, and the risk of frailty\, leading to long hospital admissions\, is drastically reduced.\n\n* JADECARE – SCIROCCO Exchange – VIGOUR “A workshop to explore the challenges and opportunities for transferring good practices\, build capacity and scale up integrated care” (Monday\, 23 May\, 13:00 – 14:00\, Lunch Session MLW.1): The Joint workshop will facilitate the discussion to analyse the challenges and opportunities of transferring Good Practices by these projects providing technical assistance to health authorities in transferring\, developing capacity and scaling-up integrated care under the EU Health Programme: \n\nJADECARE Joint Action reinforces the capacity of health authorities to address the transition to digitally-enabled\, integrated\, person-centred care. Four “Early Adopters” of original Good Practices (GP) support transfer of features into the systems of 21 “Next Adopters”.\nSCIROCCO Exchange supports the readiness and capacity of health and social care authorities for the adoption and scaling-up of IC by developing a Knowledge Management Hub.\nVIGOUR backs health authorities on their systems transformation by means of a context sensitive support programme guiding each authority through staged process of IC ambition focussing\, maturity self-assessment and operational implementation planning.\n\n** JADECARE Workshop “Transfer and adoption of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care good practices: which challenges and key elements need to be addressed for a successful transfer?” (Tuesday\, 24 May\, 16:30 – 18:00\, Parallel Session 5i): This workshop explores the challenges and key elements to be addressed when transferring Good Practices (GP) to heterogeneous health systems with different needs\, aims and scopes. It features the core elements of the four GP of JADECARE (Joint Action on implementation of Digitally Enabled integrated person-centred CARE)\, concerning integrated care\, chronic conditions\, self-care\, prevention and population health that are being transferred and adapted to the contexts of 23 Next Adopters (NA). GP are: Basque Health strategy in ageing and chronicity: integrated care (Spain)\, Catalan open innovation hub on ICT-supported integrated care services for chronic patients (Spain)\, OptiMedis Model-Population-based integrated care (Germany)\, Digital roadmap towards an integrated health care sector (Denmark). It will also highlight the experience of two NA: Portugal and Estonia. \nThe conference will operate as a hybrid event. While we are very excited to be physically together in Odense\, the hybrid formal means that people who do not wish to travel next May can join and present at the conference via video link and present their paper digitally\, however a delegate fee and registration will still be required.

SUMMARY:Digital Health: NOW!
DESCRIPTION:About Digital Health: NOW!\n\n\n\n\n\nDemographic development\, structural factors\, staff shortages: the healthcare system in Europe is facing major challenges. At the same time\, the digitalization of social life is changing citizens’ expectations of modern care and creating new opportunities for networked\, digitally supported medicine. Dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic has shown how important it is to switch to shared healthcare quickly. Alternatives to face-to-face medicine had to be established within a very short time. \nMany solutions have shown\, that digital medicine (e.g. telemedicine\, networking\, automatic integration and AI-supported use of data) can strengthen healthcare services. The highest level of medical expertise and cross-national cooperation in care must be available in every part of Europe. The ultimate goal is value-based healthcare for all citizens in the EU. \nJADECARE will be presented by Jon Txarramendieta\, Project Coordinator\, Kronikgune (Bilbao\, Spain)\,\nin session “Healthcare without borders – Best Practice Examples from Germany and Europe”\n(13:10 – 13:30 CET). \nDigital Health: NOW! is organised by \n\nGerman Society for Telemedicine (DGTelemed)\,\nInnovation Center Digital Medicine of the University Hospital RWTH Aachen (IZDM)\nZTG Center for Telematics and Telemedicine GmbH.\n\n#digitalhealthNowEU

SUMMARY:EASyM European Association of Systems Medicine 3rd Conference
DESCRIPTION:UPDATE: According to the European Association of Systems Medicine\, the 3rd EASYM Conference has been postponed to Spring 2022. The precise dates of the event\, to be held in Barcelona\, will be announced. \n(maintained were 2021 EASYM ACADEMIC EVENT & GENERAL ASSEMBLY: The training program (tutorials) run on 9th November 2021 from 09:00 to 16:30\, followed by one-hour academic session and the day ended with the General Assembly) \nEASyM 3rd Meeting 2022 (postponed from 2021): “Systems approaches to Global Challenges”: EASYM (European Association of Systems Medicine) was founded in September 2015 and therefore celebrated its 5th birthday last year. Many things have happened in these past five years. The Systems Medicine approaches have been broadly incorporated in the academic arena and its principles are progressively embedded into ongoing translational research programs. They have led to a better understanding of disease mechanisms\, as well as to better capture the nature of disease interactions\, paving the way for new therapies. Moreover\, Systems Medicine is contributing to define novel strategies aiming at optimizing health value generation. \nFor Systems Medicine to be able to radically change health care still large steps have to be taken. This is why EASYM thinks it is important to bring together all stakeholders in the field (biologists\, computational scientists\, clinical researchers\, practicing clinicians and managers) to discuss and work together on methodology\, interpretation of data and implementation of results in clinical care. \nTo be able to bring these stakeholders together\, EASYM considers pivotal to organize a 2-yearly networking event with a strong program to inspire and to give people the opportunity to discuss and brainstorm together. Furthermore\, EASYM wants to play a role in training scientists working in the field of Systems Medicine and educating clinicians to promote clinical practicalities of the approach. Finally\, EASYM wants to include young scientists in these efforts and has therefore installed a junior board to advise the board what they need to be successful in the field. \n\n[28 April 2022] Josep Roca (IDIBAPS) was invited to give a talk in a mini symposium “A Systems Medicine Approach to Multimorbidity: toward personalized care for chronic patients” in the afternoon\n[29 April 2022] In the Clinical & Health policy section Esteban de Manuel Keenoy presents “Joint Action (JA) on implementation of digitally enabled integrated person-centred care – JADECARE”

SUMMARY:9th Bavarian Public Health Conference 2021 - One Health / Eine Gesundheit
DESCRIPTION:One Health / Eine Gesundheit – Lessons from the Pandemic\nAlso in Germany public health promotion and prevention of disease for risk groups based on efficient data analysis and targeted digitally enabled actions is one of the goals of public health services. In Bavaria it was recognised\, that the European diversity offers unique chances for mutual learning. \nThe 9th Bavarian Congress for Public Health Services is set to present “One Health – Learnings from the pandemic”. This years’ One Health approach included topics from different areas all leading to and being influential to achieve a comprehensive One Health of the population. The Bavarian Health and Food Safety Authority scheduled sessions on actions to promote and prevent SARS-CoV-2 spreading in schools\, infectiology and infection epidemiology\, strategies of vaccination and testing and follow-up\, climate change and bio-aerosols\, childrens health in the context of the pandemic\, and specific lessons learnt in the pandemic for health services improvement and research. \nIn Germany\, not only the pandemic underlined that public health promotion and prevention of disease for risk groups and the general population\, which is based on efficient data analysis\, as well as targeted\, digitally-enabled actions and tools is among the most important goals of public health services. In Bavaria it was recognised\, that the European diversity offers unique chances for mutual learning also in this respect. \nThe EU Joint Action “JADECARE” enables the transfer and adoption of best practice models for integrated digitally enabled person-centred care to health care communities in different European countries and at the same time supports capacity building of ministries of health to achieve and perform sustainable digital health systems transformation towards integrated person-centred care.\nJADECARE thus provided a source of experiences and tools for a successful digital transformation also to national or regional public health services. \nDownload: Book of Abstracts (German) 9th Bavarian Congress for Public Health Services\n(“Umwelt – Hygiene – Arbeitsmedizin” Band 26\, Nr. 4 2021)

SUMMARY:EHMA 2021 "Health Management: Managing the present and shaping the future"
DESCRIPTION:Annual Conference 2021 of the European Health Management Association (EHMA) \nOver the last year\, health systems across Europe have encountered the most difficult times for a generation. Throughout the world\, health services buckled under the strain of COVID-19\, confronting enormous challenges around hospital capacity and workforce planning during a pandemic. As managers are pondering whether there will be a return to a ‘new normal’\, important questions will be asked about how to increase the resilience and readiness of health systems whilst also providing high-quality routine care catching up on the backlog of many months of missed operations. Health management will be at the centre of providing solutions for these unprecedented difficulties. Bringing practitioners\, researchers and academics together to share solutions has never been more important than today. \nEHMA Annual Conference 2021 is organised by EHMA in collaboration with the Associação Portuguesa de Administradores Hospitalares (APAH) and its academic partners\, the Escola Nacional de Saúde Pública and the Universidade Nova: Nova School of Business and Economics. The conference brings together experts from across the world to discuss solutions to managing services in the post-COVID future. The EHMA Annual Conference is widely considered the preeminent place to share experiences\, skills and competencies in the field of health management. It is a place for all healthcare stakeholders to come together\, discuss current topics and exchange innovation and best practices. \nThe JADECARE Joint Action will present its approach for transfering and enabling the adoption of best practice models for integrated digitally-enabled person-centred care to health care institutions and networking communities in different parts of Europe to foster and ensure the health and well-being of European citizens. SUMMARY:The VIII Digital Congress on Digital health\, "The San Sebastian International Digital Health Congress (e-health Donostia)"
DESCRIPTION:The San Sebastian International Digital Health Congress has been held continuously since 2014. In 2021\, its eighth edition approaches the theme of Value-Based Digital Health: The recent health crisis has caused a global crisis\, affecting society in all areas. We must take advantage of what we have learned to consolidate value-based practices and address the opportunities for improvement that have been identified. \nOne of the priorities identified was undoubtedly the need for a digital transformation in health. Digital Health is a reality in our environment\, but there is still a long way to go. We must reflect on whether the current scenario is adapted to the present and future needs of users\, and what would be the most appropriate strategies to meet these needs in the coming years. The new virtual format of the congress since 2020 facilitates the attendance of people from all over the world\, allowing the sharing of experiences and lessons learned from different environments. By working together\, we can move faster and go further.

SUMMARY:European Respiratory Society: Enabling Next Generation Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Digital transformation in practice: Enabling Next Generation Medicine\nThe European Respiratory Society (ERS) organizes the largest respiratory medicine meeting worldwide (average of 25.000 attendees). The current edition was held online due to the pandemics. The Congress Chair’s Symposium was devoted to digital transformation of healthcare with two specific aims: i) To present initiative developed for a personalised medicine through new medical technologies; and\, ii) To discuss the implementation of digital resources to improve the care of respiratory patients.\nStructure: Four lectures explained experiences of adoption of digital transformation of healthcare in real world settings\, as well as potential offered by the new scenario\, considering integrated care and personalized medicine as ultimate goals to be achieved. \nJADECARE was presented in three out of the four lectures (1\, 2 and 4).\nSymposium motivation – It is well recognised by health policy makers\, also increasingly by health professionals\, that implementation of digitally-enabled integrated patient-centred care constitutes the way toward generating healthcare efficiencies and long-term sustainability of health and social care systems. Intrinsic complexities in the process of scalability of the approach are fully acknowledged and well-defined strategies to overcome barriers for scale-up are in place. Moreover\, digital health transformation with a systems approach paves the way toward precision medicine. There is no doubt of the enormous potential generated by the technological progress over the last decade\, but practicalities of its implementation and adoption by healthcare professionals are far from being solved. Adoption of effective and sustainable digital health strategies for management of patients requires a critical analysis of the tremendous evolution experienced by both technologies and conceptual frames over the last few years. The symposium will analyze key steps\, and lessons learnt in each of them\, from successful deployment experiences. The ultimate aim of the session is to contribute to shape future healthcare scenarios.” \n

SUMMARY:ICIC21 “Realising the true value of Integrated Care”
DESCRIPTION:In 2021 the 21st International Conference on Integrated Care (ICIC21) “Realising the true value of Integrated Care” took place as a virtual conference\, co-hosted by IFIC hubs and collaborative centres IFIC Scotland\, IFIC Australia\, IFIC Ireland\, IFIC Canada and IFIC Latin America. The conference ran across the whole month of May taking place across various time zones. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenters pre-record their presentations and were available to all delegates to access in their own time. During the live sessions successful authors were asked to reduce the time of their presentation to key points and sessions were ran interactively hosted by two or more chairs leading a discussion with paper presenters. This was much more enjoyable for the viewer and more engaging from the audience for presenters by using this format. \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWorkshops were designed with the virtual audience in mind and for making the best use of digital technology and provides the best learning experience for attendees.
